Midwest Climate & Energy Analyst

The Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) is a leading science-based nonprofit organization working for a healthy planet and a safer world. We are seeking a Midwest Climate and Energy Analyst to coordinate and conduct quantitative economic and scientific analyses to help advance the UCS policy agenda at the state and federal levels. While the focus will be on climate policy, the Analyst will work with a multi-disciplinary team from the Climate, Clean Energy, Clean Vehicles, and Food & Environment Programs.
Qualifications & Experience:
At least five years of progressively responsible related experience is required. Applicants should possess an advanced degree in economics, mathematics, engineering, science or a related field.Candidates must have strong quantitative, analytical and research skills. Experience in climate change policy and/or science, energy policy and/or technologies, bioenergy, and/or agriculture is a plus. Demonstrated ability to work independently and to collaborate as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Strong communication and public speaking skills; demonstrable ability to write for non-technical audiences and to communicate science to non-specialists. Demonstrated interest in the application of science to public policy, especially on climate change issues and the role of technical analyses and advocacy in shaping public opinion and policy debates. Ability to maintain moderate travel schedule. Proficiency with computer models, spreadsheets, word processing, and powerpoint is necessary.
