Hydrogeologist

The Position - RMT, Inc. is a leading consulting engineering firm which provides a broad range of environmental management and engineering services to clients nationwide. We currently have an opportunity for a Hydrogeologist in our Madison, WI office.
Responsibilities include:
- Collecting field data that may include observation and documentation of soil borings and well installations
- Conducting or assisting with hydrogeologic investigations which may include surface water and groundwater modeling
- Applying field observations to text, analyzing and interpreting pumping tests, constructing potentiometric surface and isoconcentration contour maps, geologic cross sections, and have the interpreting geologic and environmental chemical data.
- Managing and analyzing data, writing reports, assisting with proposal preparation, and communicating with clients, attorneys, and regulators.
- Supervising drilling or remediation subcontractors
Requirements -
- Minimum of an BBA/BS (MS Preferred) in Hydrogeology or closely related discipline (i.e. Geologic Engineering, Hydrology) with a strong emphasis in contaminant fate and transport modeling and/or geochemistry.
- 1-5 years of related experience, specific experience with an environmental consulting firm preferred
- Must be willing to travel with occasional field assignments
- Candidate must have received or be capable of completing 40-hour health and safety training requirements of OSHA 1910.120 for work with hazardous substances.
- Specific experience with finite difference modeling software (e.g. MODFLOW) is a definite plus.
- Candidates should have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent oral and written communication and problem solving skills
- Candidates should understand that they may be working under subcontract to companies that make or produce hazardous substances, and that much of this work is of a confidential nature.
