Clean Wisconsin leads the Global Warming Solutions Working Group for RE-AMP. RE-AMP is an engaged and active network of nonprofits and foundations working on climate change and energy policy in a 7-state region in the upper Midwest. This ambitious project is aimed at transforming the upper Midwest energy sector into a model of clean, efficient and safe energy generation and use, while reducing global warming pollution economy-wide by 80% by 2030.
RE-AMP's core operations occur through 5 issue-based working groups. The working group issue areas are transportation, cleaning up coal, clean energy, energy efficiency, and global warming solutions. Working groups provide a forum for advocates to network and also provide direct support, coordinated tactics, and coordinated fundraising for member organizations.
Position Overview:
Clean Wisconsin seeks strong applicants to fill a full-time position conducting research, analysis and organizing work on state and regional global warming regulatory policies. Part of the job will be supporting Clean Wisconsin's ongoing work to advocate for strong global warming policy adoption at the state and regional level, and part will be to staff a regional network (RE-AMP) of environmental groups working for adoption of strong global warming policies across the upper Midwest.
Responsibilities:
This position will work with the working group leader as well as other RE-AMP Network affiliated staff to perform the following primary job responsibilities:
Coordinating annual meetings for the working group and assisting with RE-AMP annual meeting. (40%):
- Work with the working group leader to develop working group agendas, convene working group meetings, handle logistics of the meetings, and circulate minutes from the meetings.
- Work with the Coordinator and other working group program associates to organize one early fall meeting of cross working group energy advocates per year in each state.
- Assist with, as needed, the RE-AMP Annual Meeting
- Prepare monthly working group updates for the Steering Committee
- Work with the working group leader to schedule and facilitate subcommittee meetings when needed.
Research, analysis and assisting with project coordination (50%):
- Under close direction, perform quantitative and qualitative research, interpret results and communicate with stakeholders of the Network.
- Draft policy position papers from this research.
- Coordinate development of shared working group work products
- Support working group leaders in strategic planning for the Network related to the working group issue area
- Facilitate communication of policy developments between members of the working group across multiple states
- Respond to working group leader and member requests concerning policy and current analysis.
- Work with the RE-AMP Coordinator to ensure that the working group is living up to shared agreements made at the Steering Committee level.
Other tasks (10%):
- Develop and update working group funding priorities once per year
- Work with the Global Warming Strategic Action Fund Committee (RE-AMP's funding arm) to track new grantee projects, and connect them to the appropriate working groups.
- Coordination of working group grant proposals and other fundraising - related tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- Deep interest in global warming policies and solutions, with strong preference for those who have at least 3 years work in relevant field.
- Educational background relevant to global warming policies.
- Ability to see "big picture" and work with multiple stakeholders to move forward toward a common goal;
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to understand, evaluate, and communicate qualitative and quantitative policy analyses.
- Ability to produce original qualitative and quantitative policy analyses highly desirable.
- Experience working in non-profit networks and coalitions
