
Intern - Global Warming, Agriculture and Wildlife

Get your foot in the door of the environmental community in Washington, DC, while working to address some of the most challenging and important issues of our time! The National Wildlife Federation's Global Warming, Agriculture and Wildlife program works to address global warming and wildlife conservation on agricultural landscapes. This position will assist with our work to promote sustainable next generation biomass energy, carbon sequestration, and improved implementation of USDA conservation and energy programs. A motivated individual with strong research, communications, and organization skills is sought to be hired for an 11-month, full-time paid internship in Washington, DC.
The Global Warming, Agriculture and Wildlife Intern will help compile and summarize the latest research and policy on carbon sequestration, biomass energy, and wildlife impacts, including preparation of educational and advocacy materials for activists, agency, and congressional staff. Other duties may include coordinating workshops and maintaining a listserv and web page. Intern will become part of a committed team and have an opportunity to gain a broad background in all aspects of policy advocacy, including attending hearings and meetings with administration officials, congressional staff and other conservation groups and coalitions. The Intern must be available to work a 40-hour weekly schedule. This position offers a $400 weekly stipend plus core benefits.
BA/BS in natural resources, agriculture or related field required. Excellent writing and speaking skills are required, including an ability to research and distill complex concepts into materials for the general public. Knowledge of and ability to use computer software programs (e.g., MS Office) is required. Experience in or demonstrated commitment to environmental advocacy is a plus.
